As a big fan of and a resident of West Palm Beach, I urge the city council to vote no on the half-baked idea of the Downtown Mobility Plan. Any such concept or plan that would so change our city — and one that seems to include the ill-conceived Flagler Shore Project (which was already deemed a failure) should at least deserve a citywide referendum.
We the people should have a say in our city’s future when it comes to such an extraordinary undertaking and not just be left to a vote from a city commission.
This feels like another attempt by the mayor and her singular vision to steer the city based on her own agenda. The residents and taxpayers of our great city deserve to and have the right to be a part of the decision that would so profoundly change our city for years and years to come.
Please encourage our city council members to send this plan back to the drawing board where it can be fully studied, including a cost/benefit analysis, public hearings and expert testimony as to the need for such a drastic undertaking.
